Our year 2009 in review; a Gallery

2008

This year we visited England again during the summer.  Here's a few pictures of what we did.

2007

3 Nov: Two days early we celebrated Esther's birthday with dinner at Coffee or Tea then (the important part) cake at Katie's Dessert.

(Click below then choose "View as slideshow")

24 Mar: The office space is almost ready to move in, we are now carrying boxes across and building shelving to put them on.

12 Mar: Had a nice lunch with Peter and Maureen who were making a flying visit through HK on the first leg of a round the world trip.  It was great to see them again and catch up, though sad that this included learning about deaths in the family we didn't know about.

We didn't take a camera so there isn't a snapshot of the meeting, but Maureen had one so when she returns I hope she can send a copy.

3 Mar: A rare day of bright weather in the spring, and it was warm enough to go to the beach!

Cold drizzle has resumed now but it was good while it lasted.

1 Mar: We have taken over a flat near to ours to be office space and storage, so that we can free up a room where we live for Edward to be his bed room, as well as have a proper working environment that is separate from "home".  The place is close, cheap and big enough -- but quite damp.  All the walls were seriously moldy (as in large black patches) so we've had it scraped and repainted.

Here it is full of builders materials.

3 Feb: Time flies huh, Edward is 1 year old.  To celebrate his birthday we had a dinner with Barbara and Corin's families at Morocco's and afterwards went to Katie's dessert for cake.

A rare picture with the family all together.

2006

August 23: Perhaps due to the heavy rains these pink flowers in our back courtyard are prettier than they have ever been.  A very strangely they have a very faint yet distinct perfume -- of Chocolate!

August 18: Christopher is 9, we went to Macau with Esther.

June 22: Edward

9May : Tree planting school outing:

14 Apr: Babies change so fast, Edward is just two and a half months now but is growing fast.

20 Feb: Edward is doing well so here are a few more pictures -- who does he look like more, Winnie or Raymond..  Or Christopher? Mostly he looks likes Edward!

Collecting Lai See -- very important skill for children!

With Esther and Winnie

With Raymond

1 Feb: Here comes Edward!  He was born on 1 Feb at 9:12pm weighed 7.5lb.  He seems to be an easy going baby, no big fuss.

June 25: It's Holly's Birthday again.  Yes, she gets two per year -- just like Winnie and the Queen so she's in good company.

May 24: It's Holly's birthday so we took her to lunch and bought her some flowers.

27 Mar - 6 Apr: Went to Phuket in Thailand, got a great deal as nobody wants to go for fear of the Tsunami -- but actually everything is back to normal mostly and what they need is the tourist business back on track.  Had a great time lounging about in the pools  -- didn't do very much.  Sailed a hobi-cat for the first time:

Raymond and Christopher in the lagoon -- and great sunsets every night

12 Feb 2005: We definitely need to walk off those fat caused by the fatty food we eat during Chinese New Year so off we went to Lantau with other families from Cheung Chau.

9 Feb 2005: First day of Chinese New Year in auntie Mora's place.

23 Jan 2005: Christopher's first public Piano performance -- at a show organized by his piano school: [video]

14 Jan 2005:  Put up scans of some of the historical pictures of the Lowe family, with my grandmother and grandfather in them.

12 Jan 2005: It's year 3 and year 4's Sports Day in Kennedy School.  It's so difficult to get a good close-up coz they all run too fast!

25 Dec 2004: Merry Christmas!  And it has become a joke that Raymond would wear the same shirt every year!

22 Dec 2004: Winter solstice dinner with Esther, uncle Ming's family and my mum who often avoids the camera.

20 Nov 2004: Added a page of pics about the wildlife we see in Nam She Tong.

23 Jan 2004: It's the second day of Chinese New Year.  We arranged to have dim sum lunch in Tai Koo Place before we visited auntie Mora.  Then we went to Grand Hyatt to have tea.

21 Dec 2003: Merry Christmas!!!

Does it look familiar?  That's right!  Ray is wearing the same shirt as last year (as seen at the bottom of this page)  :-)

19 Dec 2003: Winter solstice dinner at East Lake Restaurant in Causeway Bay.

29 Nov 2003: Do you know what's inside this jackfruit seed pod?

Answer is: another jackfruit seed pod with another new leaf in which there is another jackfruit seed pod with another new leaf......

1 Nov 2003: Cheung Chau Halloween party.

23 Oct 2003:  We went to Ocean Park for it's the long mid term break of school.  It's not surprising to see all the kids from different international schools.  We even met Mr. Neal the P.E. teacher.

7 Oct 2003: School trip to Sam Tung Uk in Tsuen Wan

28 Sept 2003: The Yuens family visited Cheung Chau.  Duncan and Judy still look the same.  Krista and Kyle have grown enormously.   Maureen, do give us a call next time when you visit Cheung Chau.  Hannah, we hope you enjoy HK.  It's so so good to see you all.  Hope to see you all again ... maybe before Duncan and Judy turn into grannies?!

Special thanks to Kyle for the model gecko and also building the castle with Christopher.  Otherwise I would have to do it and it will never be as good.  :-)

27 Sept 2003: Special congratulations to our Dr. Barker!  We had a drink in Esther's place then dinner at Warwick hotel.

15 Aug - 2 Sept 2003: It's Christopher's first long trip (12 hours) and also his first time to U.K. (after he learnt about all the English stuff in school).  We escaped the 35C heat wave and we were cold by the end of the journey.   Here are some bits and pieces of our journey.

21 - 26 Jul 2003: Raymond went to Singapore for business and everybody went along, including Esther.  That explains why Raymond was not in most of the pictures.  :-(    Christopher was really fed up with shops, and more shops.

Mid July 2003:  Raymond had a business trip to the U.S.  He stayed for more than a week so he popped into New York during weekend.  Been there, done that, got Christopher 2 t-shirts.

17 May 2003: Luckily it's a bit cloudy so it's not too hot.  We went to Tung Wan Tsai  (東灣仔) or Coral Beach which is at the north end of Cheung Chau.

7 ~ 12 Apr 2003: Despite the scary SARS, we went to Bali and stayed in Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua.  It's a very good deal.

3rd Jan 2003: Bit late as always but Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

:-)

Year 2002 - We seem to dine in 'East Lake' a lot this year whenever there are visitors - Noel's brother, Lindsay's friend and Kirsty and Steph.

Earlier

Joe and Ian visited; we put up a site just for them.
